I had noticed that my 5 year old likes to put his dishes in the sink after dinner. So one day I decided to complement him for it in a more tangible way. I told him he should get a good boy sticker, and the idea was born of starting a good boy behaviour chart. I had been wanting to start charts for a while, had a whole lot of ideas but somehow none of them were apealling to him or working for me. For this one, I just decided to write down his good behaviour on a piece of paper and put a sticker next to it, and then told him that everytime he does something nice, helpful,or commendable, I will write it down and he will get a sticker. He really likes the ideas and it's been working quite well. I really want to encourage spontaneous good behaviour and attitude, and this really helps that. So far he has 3 stickers for putting away his dishes and wiping the toilet seat afer he goes to the bathroom, one for obeying without whinning and one for not palying while eating (I actually forgot t...
