Student Logbook - TOS Review

I have always struggled with planning and keeping a schedule. My youngest son, on the other end, thrives on schedules and check marks. So, that is why I was more than happy to try a new system for his school organization that catered to his bent.  Here comes My Student Logbook . My Student Logbook is a student planner of a kind, put together by a homeschool mom to help her and her kids keep on track of what needed to be done in their homeschooling. She talks about accountability and peace in the home. She then created her product which she sells at My Student Logbook . You can read her story on her website . So what is My Student Logbook? It is a fold-over logbook where you list all of the tasks, topics, subjects that you want your child to do, and then he/she proceeds to mark them off as he completes them. The genius of it is that as you move along in the weeks, all you have to do each week is flip the page, and you can replace the list page very easily as well by folding ...

HomeSchoolPiano - TOS Review

Adding the Arts to our homeschool is often a challenge. Music lessons most often seem to be a luxury, yet every one would agree that they offer great benefits to the education and development of our kids. Recently we were privileged to be able to review HomeSchoolPiano - Complete Set of Books put out by HomeSchoolPiano. We receive a lifetime subscription to HomeSchoolPiano -Complete Set of Books for up to 5 students. What a blessing! I hoped to have my violin player get a start on piano, as his theory is not that great, and have my 4th grade level piano player learn some improvisation. So we tried to use this 3 -4 times a day. The details: HomeSchoolPiano is a subscription program that gives you access to online piano lessons. These lessons are suitable for all ages, even adults. Once you purchased a subscription it is for life and you have access the online lessons plus 3 books worth of downloadable music sheets to be printed out for use along with the lessons. The le...

CTC Math - TOS Review

I am really excited  to tell you about a Math program that my boys have been enjoying for the past couple of months: CTC Math . Because Math is such an important school subject, I am always intrigued by Math curriculum and always willing to try them out. When the chance to review the 12 month family Plan from CTC Math came up, I jumped on the opportunity. No regrets to report. What is CTC Math? CTC Math is an online Math curriculum that describes itself as an online Math Tutor. It is geared for kids from Kindergarten to High school. How it works: You need a computer, internet access and a log in. The way the program works is that you watch a video with a teacher that explains to you the math concepts. The really neat thing about this program is that you (the student) have full control of the video, that is, you can stop it at any time, rewind, forward etc... Once you complete the video, you have a chance to do a set of exercises (usually 10-20 questions) to help you mas...
