Sunday Hymn

In the Valley Sovereign Grace Music Verse 1 When You lead me to the valley of vision I can see You in the heights And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision It’s here Your glory shines so bright So let me learn that the cross precedes the crown To be low is to be high That the valley’s where You make me more like Christ Chorus Let me find Your grace in the valley Let me find Your life in my death Let me find Your joy in my sorrow Your wealth in my need That You’re near with every breath In the valley Verse 2 In the daytime there are stars in the heavens But they only shine at night And the deeper that I go into darkness The more I see their radiant light So let me learn that my losses are my gain To be broken is to heal That the valley’s where Your power is revealed To listen to it, click here .

Weekly Wrap-up

It is Friday and time for  a recap of the week. From the Heart: We had a good week this week. It has been a long time since school ran very smoothly and I was not running around crazy. I am pretty sure it has a lot to do with me getting back to a routine of waking up between 6:30 and 7:00 , showering, making breakfast and having my devotion over my coffee. I thank the Lord for His grace in this area and pray for more. From the school front: Till the 21st of June, which is our departure date to visit granpa and Grandma in the Caraibean, we will be doing FLL, Math, Science and Handwriting. This week we covered these subjects faithfully. In Math I've finally found a way to get Zach to enjoy the tedious work of doing operations (practice is a must in Math for fact retention and proficiency, and Zach hates repetition.) We have been doing math competitions , he calls it a race. I write down the operations on the board and we both do them at the same time, he on the board and I in the boo...

Weekly Wrap-up

It's time for another weekly wrap up. We've been busy here. Yesterday was our last week of electives. My French class read out loud John 3:16 in French, and did pretty good. The boys got their certificates. In school we did not do much this week. We are still trying o finish up FLL. It will definitely take us until the last day before we go off to Martinique to finish it. For Math we are taking it easy as well; moving on with Professor B and doing some practice sheets (which I got from Practical Pages ), to add variety. I have decided to stop spelling until we start back in August. We finished our geography but still have a few stories in our BJU readers to finish. As for Joho he has been doing some handwriting and reading from I Wonder (CLE 1st grade readers). The boys have been busy doing science and crafts. Building a wooden tank Exploring the solar system with the help of Aha Science Catching and watching caterpillars Making a mail man bag: As for me I have been busy twinkl...

Sunday Hymn

Not What My Hands Have Done   Horatius Bonar Not what my hands have done can save my guilty soul; Not what my toiling flesh has borne can make my spirit whole. Not what I feel or do can give me peace with God; Not all my prayers and sighs and tears can bear my awful load. Your voice alone, O Lord, can speak to me of grace; Your power alone, O Son of God, can all my sin erase. No other work but Yours, no other blood will do; No strength but that which is divine can bear me safely through. Thy work alone, O Christ, can ease this weight of sin; Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God, can give me peace within. Thy love to me, O God, not mine, O Lord, to Thee, Can rid me of this dark unrest, And set my spirit free. I bless the Christ of God; I rest on love divine; And with unfaltering lip and heart I call this Savior mine. His cross dispels each doubt; I bury in His tomb Each thought of unbelief and fear, each lingering shade of gloom. I praise the God of grace; I trust His ...

Major changes coming to the blog

I just want to warn any of my readers that the blog is going to look funny for the coming week, at least. Homeschoolblogger is changing its blogging platform and it will take some adjustments and learning to get the blog the way I would want it to look like. Please bear with me as I get use to the new platform and take this opportunity to give the blog a facelift.

Weekly Wrap-up

It's time for me to let you know what's been happening here. Once again I went silent. I find it very hard to keep blogging and do everything that needs to be done in school, house, church responsibilities and most important (or not), reading everybody else's blogs. So that is why I do not post very often anymore. This is a good reason to subscribe to the google connect in the sidebar as you will know when I do add a post. (Just a bit of self-promoting here). On to what we have been doing: School: We are troding along, trying to finish up our First Language Lessons , continue on in our Professor B (no intention to finish it since we just started it a couple of months ago after finishing Singapore 1B). We are also pushing on with the Classic science, Handwriting and some spelling. My goal really is to finish FFL by the 3rd week of June as we will be going on vacation to Martinique, which means off school till we start again in August (We kind of school year round with the mo...

Sunday Hymn

Beautiful Saviour by StuartTownend All my days I will sing this song of gladness Give my praise to the Fountain of delights For in my helplessness You heard my cry And waves of mercy poured down on my life. Chorus Beautiful Savior, Wonderful Counselor Clothed in majesty, Lord of history You're the Way, the Truth, the Life Star of the Morning, glorious in holiness You're the Risen One, heaven's Champion And You reign, You reign over all I will trust in the cross of my Redeemer I will sing of the blood that never fails Of sins forgiven, of conscience cleansed Of death defeated and life without end I long to be where the praise is never ending Yearn to dwell where the glory never fades Where countless worshipers will share one song And cries of 'worthy' will honor the Lamb You can listen to it here Have a great day,

I came across this article and though it to be very enlightening. Here is another interesting article as well on gifted children. Is your child very bright or gifted, and also very energetic and distractable, (I have one of those), I found this post on Homeschooling the energetic gifted child very helpful,  and I have actually started to put some of these in practice. As a matter of fact Home Educator website has lots of valuable articles worth checking out. I could not leave the site once I got there. Make sure you go to the back issues all the way down, and make your way through. You won't regret it. I also came across a great article describing the difference between bright and gifted. Here are some more helpful websites: on gifted kids: Gifted Development center Talent Development Teaching the gifted Bright Kids at home Education.com Since lots of gifted kids are often Spatial Visual learners, here are some articles and websites on the subjects: Curriculum for the Visual S...

Sunday Hymn

He's Always Been Faithful by Sarah groves Morning by morning I wake up to find the power and comfort of God's hand in mine. Season by season I watch him amazed, in awe of the mystery of his perfect ways CHORUS: All I have need of his hand will provide. He's always been faithful to me I can't remember a trial or a pain he did not recycle to bring me gain. I can't remember one single regret in serving God only and trusting his hand CHORUS This is my anthem, this is my song, the theme of the stories I've heard for so long. God has been faithful, he will be again. His loving compassion, it knows no end. You can listen to it here Hope you had a blessed Sunday,
