Sunday Hymn

I Need You by Christian Stanfill I am frail, broken easily Without fail, my strength keeps failing me All alone, I'm powerless To lift myself from the pit that I am in I need You, Jesus I need You, Jesus From Your throne in heaven's light Descended down into my broken life To right the wrong, to make a way To bear the load that I deserved to bear alone I need You, Jesus I need You, Jesus I need clean hands I can't, You can I need You, Jesus On the cross on our behalf The Son of God bore the Father's wrath And by His blood, the scars and pain The perfect Son, took the fall and took our place In His grace and unfailing love The risen King gave His hand to us To lift us up, from the pit And set our feet upon a rock that ever stands On my own I've tried and tried To save myself, to fill my life But the more I do the more I find That I need You, I need You, I need You

Word-Filled Wednesday

Job 33:27-30 27 And they will go to others and say, ‘I have sinned, I have perverted what is right, but I did not get what I deserved. 28 God has delivered me from going down to the pit, and I shall live to enjoy the light of life.’ 29 “God does all these things to a person— twice, even three times— 30 to turn them back from the pit, that the light of life may shine on them.

Sunday Hymn

We sing Your Mercies (by Sovereign Grace Music) Ref: We sing Your mercies We sing Your endless praises We sing Your everlasting love We sing Your mercies We sing Your endless praises Sovereign One who died Sovereign One who died for us Should He who made the stars Be hung upon a tree And should the hands that healed Be driven through for me? Should He who gave us bread Be made to swallow gall? Should He who gave us breath and life Be slaughtered for us all? Should He who is the light Be cast into the dark? And should the Lord of love Be pierced through His own heart? Should He who called us friends Be deserted by us all Should He who lived a sinless life Be punished for our fall?

Weekly Wrap-Up

The second week of school of 2011 went pretty well. Praise God. The boys have been pretty diligent in following the schedule they put together with my help. I guess when kids come up with thing themselves they are more likely to stick to it. When I try to switch things around, I encounter some resistance. As a matter of fact it's good for me, because I am not a natural schedule follower lol. It is a blessing in disguise. What all this schedule following has done for me is that school gets done but I have very little time for myself, therefore less blogging and less blog reading. So, what did we do this week? Math: For Zach, we continued on with multiplications and divisions and done some reviews of additions and subtractions. For Joho, he has been enjoyed the Jump at Home Math book. English: Zach covered studies of library, phone book and worked on a book report of one of his Thomas' story. Joho continued on with his reading of I wonder and worked on his phonics Book. Lat...

Sunday Hymn

All is Well by Robyn Mark He lowers us to raise us So we can sing His praises Whatever is His way all is well He makes us rich and poor That we might trust Him more Whatever is His way all is well All my changes come from Him He who never changes I'm held firm in the grasp of the Rock of all the ages All is well with my soul He is God in control I know not all His plans But I know I'm in His hands He clothes us now then strips us Yet with His Word equips us Whatever is His way all is well And though our seasons change We still exalt His name Whatever is His way all is well

Weekly Wrap-up

I am finally back, after a long silence, with our weekly homeschool wrap-up. We've started school this past Tuesday after over 5 weeks of sort of vacation. In the meantime we have had colds and flus and moved into a new apartments and started at a new church. We are now more or less settled into our new environment and getting back to a regular school schedule. The week went pretty well, considering the long break. We covered all of our subjects, which were many. Zachary actually set up his own schedule last week Saturday, and Joho and I tailored his according to Zach's. We did Tapestry of Grace, first week in unit 2 of year 1 (ancient India), which included lots of Geography, and a  book I had Zach read aloud. We also started multiplication and divisions in Math, covered some spelling and phonics, as well as our regular BJU english, some French, Bible handwritting. The highlight of the week for the boys was doing science experiments from a kit the boys got from my sister for ...

Happy New Year and an update

Wow, it's been a few weeks since I posted about our life here. Well, 2011 started with us moving. In this new year, we have a new home, a new church and a new neighbourhood. Our move on the 1st went well with the help of our brethren. The kids got to stay with some friends and had a grand time. I was sick over Christmas and New Year, so I was not much help, but by the grace of God I was still able to do some of what needed to be done. The whole family actually got some cold at some point during this time period. Now we are all moved in, mostly unpacked and settled in our new environment, and I can finally take a few minutes to post. We started back school, after a month off, on Tuesday. The kids actually did well and were quite dilligent. Makes you wonder if long breaks do not have benefits . . . Our schedule changed a bit as my hubby's day off is going to be Thursday now. So, instead of Monday, there won't be any school on Thursday. Hopefully I'll be posting a bit more...
