It's been a while since I have done a weekly wrap-up but there has not been much happening here this summer for some reason. Time keeps flying by and I am not sure what has been happening, beside lesson planning, reviews, game time, some playdates and time on the internet and the Wii. The boys have also been enjoying lots of audiobooks; The Magic Treehouse series, The Boxcar Children Mystery series, Chronicles of Narnia, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the last 2 I think they know by heart).
That said, we started school last Monday and I have to say the week went as planned with minimum complaint. We did cover:
This week we also had our regular library visit. I actually dedicated a bookshelf to our library books now.
One more thing that happened recently is our first camping ever, which we did last week with our church. Somehow, it seems that I was too busy enjoying the whole new experience, I barely took any pictures. That said, the boys had a lot of fun.
Here is one lone picture I took:
I guess that sums it for this week. Overall a good starting week.
That said, we started school last Monday and I have to say the week went as planned with minimum complaint. We did cover:
- 4 lessons in our Grammar Island
- 3 lessons in First Language Lessons 4
- Week 1 in Writing With Ease. I was so excited Zach did his first dictation so well and without complaining (he hates writing). I hope that keeps up. As for Joho, he did very well with his copywork too.
- In Math we made use of our subscription at Time 4 Learning and Big IQ Kids (review products - watch out for the reviews) and also some paper review on addition, subtraction and did some multiplication work as well (skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's)
- With Tapestry of Grace we reviewed the fall of Rome and the barbarian kingdoms of the time. Of course the boys were all excited. Zach loves history so much, that he has already listened to 2 cds from Story of the World. We were able to also cover geography and literature and started on a lapbook which I got from Chronicle of the Earth.
- In Science, we picked up right from where we left off in our study of animals.
- We also started using Story of the Orchestra and that went over quite well.
