Try a New Recipe Tuesday

Ribs have been on sale in our city the past few weeks. This past couple of times we tried a couple new recipes. I thought I would share the one we made today.

Pork with Maple Glaze Apples and Sweet Onions (my own crockpot version)

Ingredients:

1 rack of ribs, or pork chops
3 tablespoon maple syrup
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 sweet onion (though I use regular onion)
2 apples or more
1/4 cup of beef or chicken broth
thyme, Cajun seasoning, salt and pepper
2 tablespoon of butter

Preparation:
Season the ribs with the spices and place at the bottom of the crockpot.
Mix the onion and apples together. Add in the maple syrup, sugar and cinnamon.
Pour the whole mixture on top of the ribs and place dots of butter on top.
Cover and let it cook on low for 8 hours.

Alternately:

You can caramelize the onions and apples in a skillet with the syrup, sugar and cinnamon in butter, and then pour it on top of the ribs.

Enjoy! This has a delicious sweet flavor.

Reformation Day Giveaway

We are approaching October 31, which is an important date for all protestants. This date commemorates Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, which in turn provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation. As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church History. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the following truths: salvation by grace alone , through faith alone,  and in Christ alone, along with the supremacy of Scripture, referred to as  Scripture alone, and all of it for God's Glory Alone. These being commonly called the Five Solas of the Reformation.  Danika Cooley, author and creator of the Bible curriculum Bible Road Trip ,  has recently written a book for young people recounting Luther's sto...
