Ok, I have joined yet another meme. This one is called 5 Minutes for Books. If you want to know what it is about, check it over here.
Each week, it's a different theme, and this week is about "What's on your nightstand".
As you can see on my sidebar, I have a pile on my nightstand. So, I am going to use this as a challenge to get through that pile.
For this first post I will list all these books that I have started and want to get though. And every month, I will give an update of either how I am doing or/and of what I have learned so far.
So here we go:
Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires, the Respect He Desperately Needs By Dr. Emerson Eggerichs / Thomas Nelson Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' book, Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires, the Respect He Desperately Needs, is based on the biblical passage from Ephesians 5:33 (But every husband must love his wife as he loves himself, and wives should respect their husbands - GODS WORD® translation). His premise is that communication between a husband and wife is often frustrated because of the vastly different ways in which men and women perceive love. Women are wired to need unconditional love and men need to feel unconditionally respected. |
I need to get through this one first because I actrually borrowed it from someone.
Creating an Intimate Marriage: Rekindle Romance Through Affection, Warmth & Encouragement By Jim Burns / Bethany If you think intimacy in marriage is an impossible goal, think again. Even if your relationship is of the high maintenance variety, you can still find that meaningful connection you are seeking by cultivating three important ingredients in your relationship: Affection, Warmth and Encouragement-AWE. |

Grace-Based Parenting By Tim Kimmel / Thomas Nelson Dr. Tim Kimmel explains how fear-based parenting is a guaranteed method to set children up for failure. When Sinners Say I Do: Discovering the Power of the Gospel for Marriage By Dave Harvey / Shepherd Press Marriage is the union of two people who arrive at the altar toting some surprisingly large luggage. Often it gets opened right there on the honeymoon, sometimes it waits for the week after. The Bible calls it sin and understanding its influence can make all the difference for a man and woman who are building a life together. When Sinners Say "I Do" is about encountering the life-transforming power of the gospel in the unpredictable journey of marriage.

This book is about unraveling the mystery behind the Proverbs 31 woman.
I would put a picture of the books sitting on my nightstand, the only problem is that they are not on my nightstand. I have them in the living room, for these rare moments when I have a break, in my bag, for the opportune time when you are waiting somewhere, and some in the bedroom.
In the future I might challenge myself into reading fiction and literature books, but we will see. I'm really not a fiction and literature girl. I know my husband would be sooooo pleased. He is such a voracious and avid reader of fiction and literature books, on top of all his theological books.
Have a great day,
