Those little funny talks

Has your son ever told you "I'm all thinked up?" Well that's the latest Zach came up with, as of yesterday, while trying to finish some math work. The only problem with that, is that, he had only completed 3 of of 4 questions. Oh the things they come up with to avoid work! I must say I found it amusing, just the way it came out all sweet and "innocently". He still did not get away with it though. Sorry kid . . . I don't think so. Have a great day,

Weekly wrap-up

I'm back for a weekly-wrap up this week. Last week was our break week and I really lazied around, thus no wrap-up. On top of that it was a week of reflection on our homeschooling, routines, goals and such.  Somehow it was not a very pleasant week. We were, however, able to start brainstorming for our project fair coming up in March. This week went much better, with a back to school schedule. I reversed back to our old schedule, which I guess works better. My 4 year old kept asking for his weekly "paper schedule" as opposed to the magnetic daily one. We covered all of our topics and thus pressed on learning about money in Math, interjections and conjunctions in FLL, our last kingdom in Science, and more about maps. They've practiced and learned quite a bit of things on this site,s I think I mentioned before, well worth a try, called E-learning for kids . It is full of activities for grades K-6, in Math, English, Science, Social studies, and more. It offers quite a bit ...

Work for me Wednesday

Wonders of wonders, today I have a Works-For-Me Wednesday to share: lunches at our house Here is a very short list of what we do for lunch here (mainly just the kids):   Leftover dinner Leftover breakfast . My husband absolutely loves his breakfast. So I literally usually cook breakfast. I had previously post on our breakfast   idea list . Among those you can find some that can be eaten as leftover for lunch: pancakes, waffles, omelette, frittatas and muffins. Easy quick quessadillas : On a tortilla, spread some leftover meat (chicken and beef are my favorites) with some grated cheese on top and green pepper with desired. Fold over and cook on a stovetop gill or pan. Et voila. Ham and cheese sandwiches (classic). Quick pizza: On a tortilla, spread some barbecue sauce, mixed or not with ketchup, spread ham or whatever meat you have on hand, vegetable or choice if desired and grated cheese. Bake and voila. For more Work for me Wednesday hop on over @ Have a great day,

Sunday Hymn

I will glory in My Redeemer Words and Music by Steve and Vikki Cook (of Sovereign Grace Ministries ) I will glory in my Redeemer Whose priceless blood has ransomed me Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails And hung Him on that judgment tree I will glory in my Redeemer Who crushed the power of sin and death My only Savior before the Holy Judge The Lamb Who is my righteousness The Lamb Who is my righteousness I will glory in my Redeemer My life He bought, my love He owns I have no longings for another I’m satisfied in Him alone I will glory in my Redeemer His faithfulness my standing place Though foes are mighty and rush upon me My feet are firm, held by His grace My feet are firm, held by His grace I will glory in my Redeemer Who carries me on eagle’s wings He crowns my life with lovingkindness His triumph song I’ll ever sing I will glory in my Redeemer Who waits for me at gates of gold And when He calls me it will be paradise His face forever to behold His face f...

The visual-spatial learner

In a previous post I wrote about how I use to think that Zach was a visual learner but then had to realized that he really is an auditory learner. Again, in yet another post I have linked to an article  that was making the point of how we really have more than one learning styles and, in the case of Zach ,I think that his main 2 are auditory and visual-spatial. Here I would like to share this article about what is a visual-spatial learner and how to homeschool them. Have a great day,

weekly wrap-up

It's Friday and time for a weekly wrap-up again. Today is also our last school day for this segment of our yearly schedule. As some of you might know, we homeschool year round, and break up for a week every 4 - 6 weeks. It's been 5 weeks since we started back after New Year and we are all ready for a break. Our break will be a good time to work on our project for our homeschool group project fair coming up in March. So, looking back now, what did we do this week?, Monday we had a nice family day. With daddy back at work I guess we will have to go back to taking Mondays off school, as Monday is Daddy's day off (he is a pastor). We went skating, or should I say, we took the kids skating. Tuesday was a good school day, that is, we had minimal resistance and accomplished our work. We even got to bake and eat cookies. The rest of the week was pretty straight forward with our subjects being covered and the normal amount of student cooperation. Wednesday I took them out for a few ...

The proverb 31 woman

If you read my blog on a regular basis you may have noticed that I do not write anything very elaborated. There are a few reasons for it. First, I do not consider myself a writer, and second ,and more importantly, there are other great writers out there who have lots of wisdom, ideas and help to offer. I consider my nook on the web to be a portal to these great posts and articles. One of my recent finding is this series on the Proverbs 31 woman, over at Women Living Well Blog . Hop on over and read her provoking and encouraging thoughts on this sought after woman. Have a great day,

Reasons for homeschooling

A few months ago one of the blogger I read wrote on reasons why their family homeschool, and, I could totally relate with their reasons. So instead of rewriting such a post, I thought I would simply direct you to her post, as it is very well writen and explained. Mt. Hope Chronicles on Why we Homeschool .   Let me know what you think and have a great day .

Weekly wrap-up

It's time for a wrap-up and join Kris @ Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers . This weeek was a regular week, with no major happening except for the normal usual regular learning. We've moved on in our Geography. Zachary has been enjoying Daily Geography Practice, Grade 1 , where we are learning about maps, lands, oceans, rivers, plains, canyons, deserts, plains,  cities, directions. These days that is his favorite subject along with Science and, what is supposed to be a weekly subject, has become almost daily, and he always wants to do it first. In Science we have moved on to learning about  the next kingdom, Plants, after learning about the animal kingdom last week. We have also learned some things about electricity, as Zach had been interested in that. I was able to finally get some books from the library on the subject, and he has been reading them, as well as watching a few videos on the topic. Math and Reading went on as planned. In his Singapore Math he has reached s...
