From the schoolroom: This was our last week before school start. I was supposed to finalize my planning but I did not do much to that regard. I am more or less ready, as I have my calendar up, my daily and weekly schedule set, but somehow I feel that I am still missing something. I'll know next week. I am still missing my BJU English and my Science curriculum but that's ok. We will start it when it gets here. I am really excited to start TOG.
So what did we do on our last week? Monday we went on a barbecue/picnic on Center Island in Toronto; kids and parents had fun.
The rest of the week was filled with inside and outside play and art projects. I mentioned that Zach had started being interested in knights and castles, well here he is looking at a book about it and here are our little castle crafts.
Joho started his piano lessons today. He did quite well and mom was really happy.
From the heart: I was planning on working to wake up early this week, to get me ready for next week. It did not happen until I stumbled upon the Maximize your Morning Challenge (you can see the button on the right sidebar). Now, I have 2 successful days under my belt. I was up before 7:00. I did not reach the goal of being in bed before 11:30, so I was a bit off the goal of waking up at 6-6:30; it became more 6:45. But I am happy with that. It is all about improvement.
From the kitchen: I cooked, baked and everyone was happy. I even added a recipe or 2 on my recipe blog.
Otherwise, this week I got to visit a lot of blogs and met a lot of great bloggers. I am hoping to form some friendships with like minded homeschooling (or not) bloggers.
Zach has been rediscovering his train set, and making up stories half of the day. (I am hoping to post a few of them shortly.)
Last week I finally got the kids a dictionary (Scholastic Children's Dictionary), and it has seen a lot of use this week. Zach often comes and asks "what does that mean?" To which I usually reply "It's time to open the dictionary", (now he actually answers it himself). We've looked up: delicate, procrastinate, viaduct and a few others.
Addendum: We had a little event this evening, just as I was cleaning up the kitchen after dinner tonight, the hot water pipe of the kitchen sink snapped and we had a nice flood in the kitchen and part of the dinning room. It's all soaked up now but we are without hot water in the kitchen and I am not sure how I am going to wash my dishes without hot water . . . Just thought I would share.
This is the only picture I got to take, towards the end of the clean up, given the business of the moment!
That's about it for our week. For more weekly wrap-up head on over @ Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers.

I saw a similar bedtime challenge on courtney's blog womenlivingwell. Org and I too am trying to get to bed when there is a 10 in it a be up while there is a 6 in it but I have had a few disrupted nights and find that the late night hours afford me quiet blogging time which gets a little irresistible!!

I love the castles your boys built, and the awesome train track.
So sorry about the broken hot water pipe! I hope it can get fixed quickly.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier this week. It is nice to connect with another Christian home educating Momma!
