It's been a while since my last Homeschool Mother Journal. That does not mean nothing has been happening here. We have been busy reviewing for The TOS homeschool crew. It's been fun to try new products, but it also makes for our homeschooling to be a bit unusual.
So what has been happening here:
In my life and homeschool recently ...
Well, school, music lessons and sport. These days we are doing Math and English, using online programs, such as K5 Learning and Reading Eggs, and the boys are enjoying them. Watch out for the upcoming reviews of these!
We also have started A Child's Geography and I am really enjoying working through that book.
Handwriting is still going, now the boys have started a contest while they do it.
French is on and off, but we are working on our conjugations. Zach has "to be" and "to have" down. Now working on "to go".
Science is still going as well. We are still working through Elemental Science Biology. We finally finished our study of mammals and have now moved on to birds.
Since the end of January, the boys have been involved in a sport elective on Thursdays. They just completed 5 weeks of Volleyball, and next week will be starting 3 weeks of basketball.
My favorite thing(s) this week was…
1. Flowers from my hubby on Valentine day and our Valentine dinner:
2. Realizing that even though it drives me to the wall to see my eldest in a constant "Jedi motion", he gets lot of exercise in the process, so . . .
What I am reading these days ...
Give Them Grace by Elyse Fitzpatrick
The Good Wife's Guide by Darlene Schacht
Knowing God by J.I. Packer
The Erosion of Inerrancy in Evangelicalism by G.K. Beale
Homeschooling at the Speed of Life by Marilyn Rockett
Questions/thoughts I have…
My boys are absolutely obsessed with Star Wars. What's a homeschool mom to do? I know a unit study, but my boys are not into unit study. . .
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
Here is a site that I have really been enjoying in the past few months, especially the podcasts: Reasons to Believe.
Make sure to check some more moms' homeschool Journals @ Homeschool Chick.
