Math Made Easy - TOS Review

We were yet again blessed with another Math curriculum to review this summer. This most recent, Math Made Easy, is really a program set up to help students master their Math Facts, so it can be used in any grade, but targets elementary levels. We picked the Multiplication set as this were we are in our current Math education, and my boys' multiplication facts mastering is more than lacking. I was glad to receive this product and give it a try.

I have to say I love it. It is worksheet oriented along with flash cards drills and some games, but somehow the way it is set up, it is not tedious at all. The day's worksheet page is very reasonable and achievable. My boys did not mind at all.

This program is indeed very easy to use. It consists of a 72-pages book, made up of worksheets, games and flash cards to be cut out. The nice thing about the worksheets is that there is variety from day to day.

The way you are supposed to make this work is first of all teach about  multiplying by 0, 1, 10 and 11. There are accompanying pages for these. Then you will spend the next six weeks mastering the 36 remaining facts, focussing on six facts at a time (every week). Each day of the week you have a page of activity to do, and everyday it is something different, such as coloring, drawing, or linking. The flash cards and the games are nice additions, but they are a bit difficult to figure out (especially the games) since there are no instructions. They are totally optional though.

Price:

Each Addition or Multiplication homeschool package costs $24.95 and comes with:
  • Lesson plans
  • Pretest
  • Six weeks of daily activity sheets
  • Post Test
  • Games
  • Flash cards

Our opinion:

Math Made Easy is a very affordable easy way of teaching Math facts. I love that it avoids unnecessary drilling of the easy facts and focuses on the harder ones to master. Also, once you teach the child that with multiplications, once you know a fact you know the reverse as well, it eliminates a whole bunch of work. Something else that I like is that the activity pages contain just enough repetition, while at the same time keeping things engaging.

Math Made Easy certainly has our recommandation. It is really Math facts learning made easy!

Make sure to check the crew's review on both the Addition and Multiplication sets.

I love mathematics and have trouble understanding why aptitudes rise and fall in developed nations over a few years. It leads me to question the survey methods, of course. :)

Reformation Day Giveaway

We are approaching October 31, which is an important date for all protestants. This date commemorates Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, which in turn provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation. As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church History. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the following truths: salvation by grace alone , through faith alone,  and in Christ alone, along with the supremacy of Scripture, referred to as  Scripture alone, and all of it for God's Glory Alone. These being commonly called the Five Solas of the Reformation.  Danika Cooley, author and creator of the Bible curriculum Bible Road Trip ,  has recently written a book for young people recounting Luther's sto...
