Random 5 on Friday

A new school year has started and it is time to resume Random 5 on Friday as my way of summing up our week.

1. School got done 3 days this week, due to Monday being Labor Day here in Canada.I am pleased to report that our new school schedule held up, hooray!!! I mean not without any hiccup, but held nonetheless.

2. My parents offered me an iPad recently and the boys have been enjoying doing some educational activities on it. Zach's new French program, Duolingo, is done on it, and he is very happy with it. They've also enjoyed watching the free daily video from Brainpop.

3. We had a playdate on Thursday with a new homeschooling Friend. Gym and swimming for the kids and good chatting for the moms. Don't I love those?

4. We've decided to do Transparency maps for our geography map work with Tapestry. This is going to be interesting. New territory for us.

5. We enjoyed our discussion of Tapestry accountability and thinking questions over dinner with daddy. We all enjoyed it. I figured this was a good way yo get dad involved in it and lessen the load on me.

Great week. I think I may start participating in this Random 5 because it's short and sweet. I love TOG we are not using it this year and initially I was very sad about it. The transparency maps will be a nice memento to keep long after the children have moved on.

Writing & Rhetoric - A Writing Curriculum Review and a Giveaway

Curriculum choosing and buying can be a very daunting task. So many subjects to cover, so many curriculum to browse though, and so many companies to consider. Today I would like to share with you a product and a company that I have come to hold in high regards. Our Current Homeschool Routine - Virtual Homeschool Fair - Week 2

For week 2 of the Virtual Homeschool Fair, which is hosted by Homeschooling Hearts and Minds , we are talking method of homeschooling. When it comes to the how of homeschooling, and the method that we all follow, with the 20 plus blogger participating I can guarantee you, no method will be the same. 2019-2020 Curriculum Line Up- Grade 11 and Grade 9

Happy New Year to all! After a two year hiatus, I am resurrecting this blog. Life has been such that keeping up with this blog had become a really low priority, but I kind of miss it, so here I am giving it a try again. First I realized I never posted about my kids' curriculum line up for this school year. So, though late, here it is. This year I am homeschooling two high-schoolers. Time has gone so fast. With a 14 year old (9th grade) and a 16 year old (11th grade) I really feel like time is sleeping away; but that is the reality of life. We are but a vapor...
