The Perfect Wisdom of God The perfect wisdom of our God  Revealed in all the universe:  All things created by His hand  And held together at His command.  He knows the mysteries of the seas,  The secrets of the stars are His;  He guides the planets on their way  And turns the earth through another day.  The matchless wisdom of His ways  That mark the path of righteousness;  His word a lamp unto my feet,  His Spirit teaching and guiding me.  And O the mystery of the cross,  That God should suffer for the lost,  So that the fool might shame the wise,  And all the glory might go to Christ!   O grant me wisdom from above,  To pray for peace and cling to love,  And teach me humbly to receive  The sun and rain of Your sovereignty .  Each strand of sorrow has a place  Within this tapestry of grace;  So through the trials I choose to say:  “Your perfect will in Your perfect way.”   Stuart Townend & Keith Getty  Thankyou Music &

Homeschool Summer Plans

Summer is here, but that does not mean that school is out. In our Homeschool I do not take a summer off anymore for several reasons: #1 our school year is very relaxed. Even though I loosely follow a classical education method our school days are not very rigid. That said there are things that I want covered so I figured continuing school during the summer will help with that. #2 Throughout the school year we take breaks when we need to, so we do not need an official summer break. #3 The Schoolhouse review Crew runs throughout the summer so it feels unnatural to do review stuff if we are on so called "vacation". So what is our summer going to look like: 1. Get some science done. 2. Review Math topics. 3. French and Latin will be in session. I can never get going with Latin, so I am hoping with more time during the summer, may be it will finally get going. 4. Vacation Bible school week in July 5. Church camp in August 6. Picnics and outings here a

Around the Web

I've decided to renew my weekly post about sharing posts that I find on the net which I enjoyed reading. For this week: Growing your Own Library Without Breaking your Budget 7 Things You Need When You're Overwhlemed and Can't Keep Up 10 Books That Have Made Me a Better Homeshool Mom How Classical Education Shapes us as God Intended. "The best of Christian thinking has always recognized we are pilgrims traveling to the city of God. While we have many joys and duties in this life, we understand present existence against the backdrop of our ultimate destiny as believers---to see God one day. Keeping one eye on heaven, or the vision of God, need not diminish the importance of life in the world. On the contrary, knowledge that life in the world is part of a larger and grander story---which culminates in the vision and city of God---can be a constant reminder that life in the here and now is important, meaningful, and weighty." 1.  Monday was our annual Track and Field day. Joho did not do as well as previous years but we all had fun and enjoyed our day. He did get a few ribbons though. At the Track and field there usually is a used book sales as well, and I was able to find a few goodies: 2.  What I am reading: Private Lives of Pastors' Wives Shepherding a Child's Heart (Take 2) - Age of Opportunity The Well-Educated Mind 3. The Boys are reading: The Magiciens' Nephew Brixton Brothers' Mysteries Canadian Flyers  books 4. We have resumed our evening's read-aloud time, and started with The Horse and His Boy from the Chronicles of Narnia. Daddy is the narrator and Zach enjoys reading the dialogue parts with lots of emotion and drama. 5.   Though we have not really closed up the year I have been in full planning mode and gathering curriculum for the next school year. Watch out for my 2013-2014 line up next week. 1 . I am happily surprised that Zach is enjoying one of our newest review product: Kid Coder Web   fom Homeschool Programming. It is a web design course of kids. So far I am liking it too. 2.   School has been winding down. We are basically covering Math, review stuff, French and handwriting. I have recently found a French workbook for Zach to work with. The good thing is that  Zach does not mind working on it, and I find the workbook acceptable:   Having Fun with French . (I tend to be very picky when it comes to French material). We have been enjoying our new Bible curriculum as well: Bible Road Trip - I mentioned it a few weeks ago. 3. I have discovered a Canadian kids' book series, and to my surprise the boys have been enjoying them. Zach does not particularly like fiction books, but has been reading these front to back: Canadian Flyers Adventures . Thankfully they are available at our local library. 4. I have been working on finalizing our curriculum for next year a

These workbooks are collections of worksheets, each focusing on a topic and spanning several grade levels. The topics covered, each in a separate books, are: Measuring  (grades 3-6) Multiplication & Division  (grades 3-6) Numbers & Operations  (grades 3-6) Fractions  (grades 3-6) Decimals  (grades 3-7) Geometry Integers  (grades 6-7) Ratio, Proportion & Percent  (grades 6-8) Statist
