Good behaviour

I had noticed that my 5 year old likes to put his dishes in the sink after dinner. So one day I decided to complement him for it in a more tangible way. I told him he should get a good boy sticker, and the idea was born of starting a good boy behaviour chart. I had been wanting to start charts for a while, had a whole lot of ideas but somehow none of them were apealling to him or working for me. For this one, I just decided to write down his good behaviour on a piece of paper and put a sticker next to it, and then told him that everytime he does something nice, helpful,or commendable, I will write it down and he will get a sticker. He really likes the ideas and it's been working quite well. I really want to encourage spontaneous good behaviour and attitude, and this really helps that. So far he has 3 stickers for putting away his dishes and wiping the toilet seat afer he goes to the bathroom, one for obeying without whinning and one for not palying while eating (I actually forgot t

A bit more of what we are doing

I mentionned a few days ago that we were busy making sure we keep a school schedule. Here are some pictures of the kids in action. Joho trying to read   Zach's been into crafts these days:

Wheat free

My youngest son has been having some ecxema in the past months, he gets really itchy especially at night. Aveeno powder and bandades   (poor boy)helps a lot, but I need something more. So a friend of mine suggested that I take him off wheat for 3 weeks to see if that would be the cause. So, this past week has been an exploratory week. My son has done quite well for which I am glad and surprised. He usually is a bread and butter boy. I have tried a pancake and a crepe recipe which were both hits. You can check them out here . In a similar situation, feel free to leave a comment. Have a great day!

What we have been doing

I have been quiet recently because I am trying to get into a schedule, which i have been able to do. We do about 1 1/2 of school monday to friday from 10:00 to 11:30 at which time they are allowed to watch World World. We are focussing on just Math and English. The BJU Books are really helping, I think Zach enjoys them and do not mind doing the comprehension worksheet that goes with each stories. I also have been working on creating some props for our " classroom" which really is the house. I have come across something called Mini-office and find the idea genial. So I have endeavoured to create a math and phonic mini-office. If you do not know what that is go over at  Teaching Heart   or  Busy Teachers Cafe . Here is what I  have done so far. A calendar for them to change the day and date daily. Does not always happen, mom often forgets too The phonic mini-office Have a great day!

Birthday boy

Last saturday was my youngest boy's birthday. He turned 3, hooray!! We had a conference at our church that day, so we did not do much. We gave him some gifts as he woke up in the morning before I went off. Then When I came back, we had some Swiss Chalet food (the kids' favorite family restaurant) and a nice chocolate mousse cake. Did the Happy birthday thing and some more gifts. He had a good day. Here are some pics:
