Sunday Song

How Deep the Father's Love for Me ( Stuart Townend ) How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the chosen One, Bring many sons to glory Behold the Man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom To hear this song, click here . Have a Blessed Sunday,

More of my construction boys

If you have been reading my blog for a few weeks now, you must have noticed that my boys have been in construction a lot lately. Here are a few pics of what they do most of the day (aside from watching construction videos . . . ;))   Have a great day,

Weekly Wrap-Up

It is Friday already, where did the week go?  Well let's see. . . This week was our 4th week since we started school. I am happy to say that we are still on track in Math, English, Reading and spelling.  We started studying verbs in Zach's favorite curriculum First Language Lesson and he is really excited. He even likes doing the copywork part which is surprising since he really does not like to do any writing in general. This week we did not get to do any science or history, and here is why: Monday I had to go and check some furniture at a friend's house. Tuesday I took the kids to  water play center. Wednesday we had guests for lunch. Thursday we had a playdate afternoon. Friday I had to go to the hairdresser. I did get to squeeze in his violin practice everyday, and I am very happy about that. This week's school time was particularly difficult because of Joho's resistance to any established routine these days. Anything you suggest him to do, he i

Wordless Wednesday

As we were getting ready to go home from a couple of hours at a water park in town, Zach thought he would lie down for a little bit . . . After I finished changing him, Joho saw his brother and thought he would do the same . . .

Not Back-to-School Week 4

It's another week of Not back-to-school. This week's theme is A Day in the Life. How does our day typically run? Well, let's see . . . I try to wake up before everybody else, that is anytime between 6:30 and 7:30.  Take my shower, have my cofee while having devotion then at the computer. Then, the boys wake up one after the other (any time between 7:30-8:30). Time to prepare breakfast while the boys either play and/or watch PBS kids, namely, Curious George and Kid the Science Kid and sometimes Super Why. Then it's breakfast time, after or during which (depending on how long it takes them to eat), we have our family Bible memory verse and Bible reading. Next is grooming time (wash hands, brush teeth, get dressed etc..) Next is school. We cover 3-4 subjects, depending on the day. The time we spend here depends on how fast Zach works on his math (which is usually forever), and on any writing he has to do (which is forever as well). Joho either does some school as well, or

Sunday Song

In the Valley (Sovereign Grace Music) When You lead me to the valley of vision I can see You in the heights And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision It’s here Your glory shines so bright So let me learn that the cross precedes the crown To be low is to be high That the valley’s where You make me more like Christ Let me find Your grace in the valley Let me find Your life in my death Let me find Your joy in my sorrow Your wealth in my need That You’re near with every breath In the valley In the daytime there are stars in the heavens But they only shine at night And the deeper that I go into darkness The more I see their radiant light So let me learn that my losses are my gain To be broken is to heal That the valley’s where Your power is revealed To hear this song played, click here . Have a Blessed Sunday,

Weekly Wrap-Up

It's Friday and time for another Weekly Wrap-up at  Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers. Another week of school has gone by,  and we are still doing reasonably well. Not too much complaining but still lagging. It takes him forever to do his math. FLL is the only subject he enjoys and does quickly. But we do get through and he does get time to watch his videos and play. We go to the playground almost daily. The highlight of this week was our science. Zach's been very interested in science, so I had decided to include a science curriculum and we got to it this week. Thanks to the Not Back-to School blog hop hosted by Darcy , I came across this great FREE  Life Science curriculum called  Classic Science  . The reason why I decided to go with that instead of let's say Apologia, is because I did no think Zach was ready to follow a long and rigorous curriculum. I have been very interested in Apologia but decided that I would not use it for the elementary years. The first, Life Scien

Work for me Wednesday

Thanks to a comment from a kind soul on my blog, I have implemented a new memorizing system at our house. Everydody seems to enjoy it, except for Joho, but that's normal for him. The system comes from Simply Charlotte Mason and you can find it described here . It is very easy to set up and implement. The only work involved is actually writing all the verses out, and getting the cards and the box. She does have a list of suggested verses, which is very good, but I chose to memorize the verses from our devotionals first. We are using 2 at the moment with which I am really pleased: Teach Them to Your Children By Sarah Wean / The Vision Forum, Inc This is a very interesting books with engaging, real to life stories that illustrates important character traits  and Bible truths such as diligence, obedience, faithfulness, kindness, God's protection and many more. Each stories is ended with a verse. Good for any elementary age. The Big Book Of Questions and Answers By Sinclair Ferguso

Not Back-to-School week 3

This week's Not Back-to-School blog hop over @ Darcy's Life with my 3 Boybarians , is student's photos. So here we are: Zach, my 5,5, 1st grader (6 in Nov.) He is happy and relaxed, independent and self-motivated, inquisitive and creative. He is my ouside the box thinker. Somewhat fearful but protective of his brother. Joho, my 3.5 kindergartener, (4 in Oct).  He is happy and "OCD". Mama's boy, he is very active, and yet can focus. He is my by the rules boy, yet very defiant and rebellious. He loves Legos and puzzles. And for some more pics: Have a great day,

Sunday Song

      "In Christ Alone"   Keith Getty & Stuart Townend In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all— Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, Who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied;

Weekly Wrap-up

My weekly Wrap up this week is late, like everything this week! We had an overall good week. This was our second week back to school and Zach is still showing way more cooperation than he had in the past. We have been able to complete our subjects in 1.5-2 hours. Singapore Math seems to be liked, so far. Math has always been the subject that he resists a bit, mainly because he does not like writing. First language Lesson has introduced Copywork this week, and for my "I do not like writing" boy, it has been a bit of a challenge, but he loves FFL so much that he is willing to give it a try. Joho wanted to write about his birthday as well: We got the violin fixed and all, so we resumed our violin practice, and there again, there seem to have been some efforts made at being diligent. We had a few playdates as well this week (Tuesday and Wednesday), and for the boys, that was the highlight of course. Wherever they are, they have to do construction! As for Joho, he's been doi

Not Back-to-School Week 2

This post is way over due but still makes it in the week. This week theme for the Not Back-to-School blog hop is the school room. Here we do school at the dinning room table. That is where most of our school stuff are as well. We also have some stuff in the living room; mainly some of Johann's puzzles and games; and one of the cabinets in the TV stand holds our finished lapbooks. Some character training helps on the wall I also have some boards in their bedroom on which I put some school related stuff Our crafts stuff are kept in a closet in the hallway. And that's it. For more ideas check Darcy @ Life with my 3 Boybarian Have a great day,
