Tapestry of Grace (TOG) Planning

We  have entered our 3rd year of using Tapestry of Grace and could not say that I have really a system down when it comes to planning out Tapestry. This year, because I want to accomplish more from the curriculum (up to now I was focusing on History, Geography and Literature), I am attempting a more rigorous planning system. Here I will lay it out and we shall see how it turns out in practice. Before the year started, for Unit 1: Made a list of what needs to be done every week, such as: literature assignment, which project, map work etc... Gather supplies for projects  Enter the week's vocabulary words into Spelling City Our week's sc

Yes, We Are Schooling

I know it has been ages since I wrote anything about what is happening at our house. In August the major one was our 4-day long church family camp. The boys really enjoy camping. Us, the parents, only started venturing into this camping thing since we joined our new church 2 years ago,and are still developi

ZooWhiz - TOS Review

I have said it here on this blog, but this is just so much the case that it bears repeating: the internet and the homeschool community abound with online educational resource  We were yet again blessed with another, relatively new on the market, online program to review. ZooWhiz is an educational Math and Reading program for kids ages 5-15 . As the name suggests there is a zoo and therefore an animal element to the program. As kids go through the program, which consists of exercises in Language Arts and Math, they accumulate coins which they can in turn use to purchase animals for their virtual Zoo or to play games. So, basically with ZooWhiz your child becomes a zoo keeper by buying animals to build up his own Zoo. At the Zoo shop the animals are organized by habitat which makes it easier to find the ones you are looking for. They all vary in prices of course, so if your child wants a particular animal he's gonna have to work hard to accumulate the amount needed. In th
