Sunday Hymn

Brother Let me be Your Servant by Richard Gillard Brother, let me be your servant. Let me be as Christ to you. Pray that I might have the grace To let you be my servant, too. We are pilgrims on a journey. We are brothers on the road. We are here to help each other Walk the mile and bear the load. I will hold the Christ-light for you In the night time of your fear. I will hold my hand out to you; Speak the peace you long to hear. I will weep when you are weeping. When you laugh, I'll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow Till we've seen this journey through. When we sing to God in heaven, We shall find such harmony Born of all we've known together Of Christ's love and agony. Brother, let me be your servant. Let me be as Christ to you. Pray that I might have the grace To let you be my servant, too. Scripture in Song/Maranatha!Music

Sunday Hymn

Come Thou fount of Every Blessing written by Robert Robinson, Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of thy redeeming love. Here I raise mine Ebenezer; hither by thy help I'm come; and I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; he, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.

Weekly Wrap-Up

It's Friday and time for a wrap-up or should I say for 2 wrap-ups since I missed last week yet again. The weeks are definitely going too fast . . . In the past 2 weeks we have been strolling along looking forward to a week off next week after 7 straight weeks of full gear schooling. We've completed the 2 week-study of Ancient Greece in TOG and learned about the Minoans and Myceneans, as well as the story of the Trojan Horse. We completed multiplying and dividing by 2's and 3's in Math. There is still lots of room for mastering the facts but the concepts are down. We've worked on writing letters in our BJU English as well as learned about pronouns. French and Latin have been on the back burner these past 2 weeks, but I planned to sneak in some reviews here and there. In our Bible curriculum we focussed on orderliness. In Science we started our RS4K on Physics and the kids are having a good time with it (so am I).I really like Real Science 4 Kids and hope to write a r

Some Benefits of Homeschooling

I am still to have written a post on some benefits of homeschooling. Here is a top ten list by no means exhaustive: 1. You get to set your own schedule and pace. 2. You get to do school while having a snack, or in your pajamas. 3. You get to do impromptu projects. 4. You get to go places anytime of the day, which also translates to more field trips and discovery time whether through visits to the museums, library, bookstores or wherever. 5. You do not always have to take tests. 6. You get more time to explore your interests (no time to be spent on homework if you are diligent), or dive into a topic in more depth. 7. You learn to be diligent. 8 . You learn to be independent. 9 . You get to spend the necessary time learning christian character traits and values. 10. You get things explained over and over and in different ways until you get it: the blessing of one on one education.

Sunday Hymn

Who Am I by Casting Crowns Who am I? That the Lord of all the earth, Would care to know my name, Would care to feel my hurt. Who am I? That the bright and morning star, Would choose to light the way, For my ever wandering heart. Bridge: Not because of who I am, But because of what you've done. Not because of what I've done, But because of who you are. Chorus: I am a flower quickly fading, Here today and gone tomorrow, A wave tossed in the ocean, A vapor in the wind. Still you hear me when I'm calling, Lord, you catch me when I'm falling, And you've told me who I am. I am yours. I am yours. Who am I? That the eyes that see my sin Would look on me with love And watch me rise again. Who am I? That the voice that calmed the sea, Would call out through the rain, And calm the storm in me. Not because of who I am, But because of what you've done. Not because of what I've done, But because of who you are. I am a flower quickly fading, Here today and gone tomorrow,

Sunday Hymn

Grace Unmeasured Grace unmeasured, vast and free That knew me from eternity That called me out before my birth To bring You glory on this earth Grace amazing, pure and deep That saw me in my misery That took my curse and owned my blame So I could bear Your righteous name Grace paid for my sins And brought me to life Grace clothes me with power To do what is right Grace will lead me to heaven Where Ill see Your face And never cease To thank You for Your grace Grace abounding, strong and true That makes me long to be like You That turns me from my selfish pride To love the cross on which You died Grace unending all my days Youll give me strength to run this race And when my years on earth are through The praise will all belong to You. Weekly Wrap-Up

It's Saturday and time for reflecting on the week. I missed last week wrap-up due to a trip taken to Ottawa last week-end. So this will be a 2 week wrap-up. The past 2 weeks have been quite productive. We kept up with our subjects quite regularly. In TOG we concluded our study of Ancient China, India and America. This past week we watched videos about these ancient civilizations and made a cookie dough map of Ancient China and Ancient India. The boys did their Handwriting practice, which still need work, but I can see some improvement in the writing-hating boy my oldest is. They've also moved along in Math and English, phonics and Spelling. Last week-end they had fun skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. This past week they've also enjoyed doing a few crafts. Proud of themselves: Another happening of the week was our playdate with another mom and her kids (whom we have not seen since mid-December due to our moved farther away from them). We met at the Science center and ha

Hebrews 1:1-3 1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
