Random 5 on Friday

It's been a month since my last 5 on Friday. All that means is that life has been pretty quiet around here.  1 . I had the pleasure of having Zach play for me at a church we were visiting last Sunday. This is a milestone because this was the first time he played at church. Lord willing this is just a start.  2 . Planning, planning, planning, this is what has been occupying my mind these days. On top of finalizing our line up for the next school year, I am also planning for our next TOG year as Zach is going to be doing dialectic level. I also have been looking around for what we gonna do for science. 3 . Last week, with our homeschool group, we finished our spring electives season and we started the soccer season this week. The boys are really happy.  4. We are still in the process of finishing up our curriculum. If you want to see what the plans are for our school for the nest three month, check my post The End is Almost Here . 5. We took a week off this week bec

The End is Almost Here

It is May and most homeschoolers are starting to wrap-up their school year. Here at our house, we sort of school year round. This is due mainly to our belonging to the The OldSchoolhouse Review Team. That said, we tend to start new curriculum around August-September which means ending around May/June. It is that time of the year and we have and are just about finishing up a few of our curriculum for this year: In an attempt to expose the boys to more poetry this year I had planned or us to read a poem daily. We did this using the Oxford Illustrated Books of American Children Poems . We finished the book a couple of weeks ago. We are 4 lessons (which means 4 weeks) away from finishing The Logic of English . Next week we will be finishing Writing and Rhetoric .  Zach has abut 2-3 lessons left in his Latin Christiana Book I. Although I already have book II, we won't touch it till September. We still have about 7 weeks of TOG to complete so this will take us till the end

Curriculum Planning 2014-2015

I am willing to bet that curriculum line up is on the mind of many homeschoolers at the moment. I am no exception. I have been meaning to sit down and draw up a tentative plan for the up coming school year. I finally get to do it, and decided to share it here. The boys will be officially in grade 4 and 6. Wow, the years are mounting up! For the 2014-2015 year I am hoping to still be on the crew, through which I am getting a lot of curriculum to try, so I am trying to not buy too much stuff.
