Try a New Recipe Tuesday

Meal is always search time for me. I like to cook and eat new things as often as I can, and eating out is not an option here. So what do I do? I Pinterest almost all my meals. My husband likes a hearty, heavy meal for breakfast and it is often a challenge for me to come up with something new. A few days ago my hubby had mentioned something about French Toast. Then I was not quite in the mood to think about French Toast especially since this is not one of my favorite things to eat, especially at breakfast (I really rather eat savory for breakfast). Anyway, in my search this morning, I came across a French Toast recipe and I got inspired. This is what I came up with. We all enjoyed it, even my youngest whose first look at it looked rather suspicious. Ham and Eggs French Toast Ingredient: 4 eggs for the egg mixture Eggs for serving Slices one ham for serving 6 slices of bread 1/2 - 1 tsp cinnamon 3 tbsp honey 1/2 cup of milk Maple syrup Butter Preparation: Mix

Try a New Recipe Tuesday

My family loves muffins. I am not a big fan of muffins, but I do enjoy one once in a while. My favorites are banana muffins. Today I gave a try to a new banana muffin recipe I found on Pinterest and it was a big hit here, so I thought I would share the recipe. I believe it originates from All Recipes. Banana Muffins Ingredients 1 1/2 cup of flour 1 Teaspoon baking soda 1 Teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 large bananas 3/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1/3 cup butter melted Preparation: 1. Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together. 2. In a large bowl mix together mashed bananas, sugar, egg and butter. 3. Add flour mixture to banana mixture, folding and mixing until incorporated. 4. Pour in muffin pan and bake for 12-15 min @ 350 for regular size muffins. Optional: These go very well with chocolate chips or dried cranberries added to the batter, which is what I did. Enjoy! Here is a picture of the lonely one left when I remembered to take a picture.
A Thanksgiving hymn: We Plough The Fields And Scatter Hymn     We plough the fields and scatter The good seed on the land, But it is fed and watered By God's almighty hand: He sends the snow in winter, The warmth to swell the grain, The breezes and the sunshine, And soft, refreshing rain. Refrain: All good gifts around us Are sent from heaven above; Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, For all his love. He only is the maker Of all things near and far; He paints the wayside flower, He lights the evening star; The winds and waves obey him, By him the birds are fed; Much more to us, his children, He gives our daily bread. We thank thee then, O Father, For all things bright and good, The seed time and the harvest, Our life, our health, our food. Accept the gifts we offer For all thy love imparts, And what thou most desirest, Our humble, thankful hearts.

YWAM Publishing - TOS Review

I love it wen I discover new great products and company through the crew. One of our latest review item is one of those. We were offered to review a biography put out by YWAM Publishing taken from their Heroes series. We chose Jim Elliot: A Great Purpose. YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is a company that puts out material that seeks to encourage Christians to make a difference in the world. They focus on evangelism, educational training, prayer, discipleship and mercy ministry.  One of their series is all about learning about some of the great heroes, their life and ministries and how they impacted our world. I have not done much biography studies with the boys so I was quite happy to get the book about the life of Jim Elliot - a missionary in Ecuador who lost his life serving God and seeking to reach tribes in the Jungle there - to read with them. These series come with a book (telling the story), and a  Curriculum Study Guide sold separately. The book is wonderfully written

Random 5 on Friday

It is officially fall and school is in full swing here. We are looking forward for a week off in a couple of weeks, and for my parent's visit next week all the way from the Caribbean. So what have we been up to in the last couple of weeks: 1. A trip to the Zoo: A last one for a while - as we are not renewing our membership because it has gotten so expensive. 2 . Joho turned 8 today. Praise God for my high energy, sweet, fun and game loving boy. You certainly challenge and enrich my life. 3. We finished our study of WWWI and are now entering the roaring twenties in our History studies. 4 . We just started IXL (thanks to the crew ), and I am liking it, as it will allow me to  fill up whatever gaps the boys have in Math. Did you know they have a Language Arts section too. It goes up to grade 4. 5 .   I challenged the boys to sort their tons of lego pieces and they took it on (especially my very organized 8 year old). I still have to make labels for the different b
