Good behaviour

I had noticed that my 5 year old likes to put his dishes in the sink after dinner. So one day I decided to complement him for it in a more tangible way. I told him he should get a good boy sticker, and the idea was born of starting a good boy behaviour chart. I had been wanting to start charts for a while, had a whole lot of ideas but somehow none of them were apealling to him or working for me. For this one, I just decided to write down his good behaviour on a piece of paper and put a sticker next to it, and then told him that everytime he does something nice, helpful,or commendable, I will write it down and he will get a sticker. He really likes the ideas and it's been working quite well. I really want to encourage spontaneous good behaviour and attitude, and this really helps that. So far he has 3 stickers for putting away his dishes and wiping the toilet seat afer he goes to the bathroom, one for obeying without whinning and one for not palying while eating (I actually forgot that one; I just remembered there was another one, so I just asked him, he told me). These last two are really hard ones. It takes him forever to eat because he just keep being distrated and plays a lot; ad of course the whole first time obedience thing, needless to say....
Since this was working, i decidded to come up with a bad boy behaviour chart as well, where he will get a sticker for persistant wrong attitude and behaviour, things like whinning.
I just want to add though, that these come on top of all the talking that we have been doing, and keep doing in an attemp to reach the heart rather than just changing behaviour. But, as much as I believe in reaching the heart and bringing our kids to the realisation of their need of Christ, practical means can help us giving them the encouragement and cheering on that our children need,
especially our little ones.

Have a great day!

Reformation Day Giveaway

We are approaching October 31, which is an important date for all protestants. This date commemorates Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, which in turn provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation. As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church History. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the following truths: salvation by grace alone , through faith alone,  and in Christ alone, along with the supremacy of Scripture, referred to as  Scripture alone, and all of it for God's Glory Alone. These being commonly called the Five Solas of the Reformation.  Danika Cooley, author and creator of the Bible curriculum Bible Road Trip ,  has recently written a book for young people recounting Luther's story:   When
