Weekly Wrap-up

Kris over @ Weird, unsocialized Homeschooler hosts a weekly wrap-up and I thought I would join in this week.

This week was our back-to school week and over all I think it went well. We actually started Tuesday because we had guests over on Monday.

I was a bit anxious that I was going to get some reluctance but I have to say, Zach impressed me in that he did his best at not complaining and being somewhat diligent. Beside, obedience, diligence in one single value and character trait that we really have to work hard at teaching him. He hates work and effort with a passion.

So, overall, he did what he was supposed to with not too much fighting and as en encouragement and reward, he was getting a sticker after each subject. He kind of liked that.



Wednesday, after school was done, we went to a playdate, which of course they both enjoyed. And mom enjoyed some fellowship time.

Yesterday we made cookies, which Joho had been asking to make for a few days. You can see the recipe here.

One of the highlight of the week, which in fact was a lowlight, was when Zach dropped his violin and broke the bridge. Now, that's after he had broken the bow on Saturday, of course by accident.

He loves learning the violin, but again, back to diligence, he hates practicing and always complains and acts annoyed and wanting to quit. In both instances, it was an act of negligence and nonchalance that caused the piece to drop and break. This was very difficult for me to bear and see happening, but the Lord is really teaching me patience, forgiveness and endurance in teaching and parenting. Boy, it's hard and painful! But as I know it, well worth the pain and effort. My husband kept reminding me that no one learns the first time through,  and that we just have to keep reminding him and teaching him his need of diligence and carefulness. So, there it is for me: keep on keep on and do not give up.
