The Homeschool Village-Influencial Homeschooling Book Edition

Ok, it is Thursday and time to meet up with the friends over at Layton family Jo

This week's theme is to share your favorite book that has supported and encouraged you in your homeschooling adventure and why you'd recommend it to another homeschooler.

Now, I have only been homeschooling for about 2 years, so I can't say i am a seasoned homeschooler with lots of wisdom and advice. So, I am going to share the book that has most definitely shaped our homeschooling bent and motivation.

The Book is  The Well-trained Mind by Susan Wise-Bauer. I do not own it yet, but I have read a copy from the library and am just antsy to get my hand on the new edition before the end of the year.

Now, I have been over and read the other entries already and notices that it has already been mentioned but I this is the book that I would recommend any homeschooler to read, especially if you want to have well educated kids..

It has shaped our understanding of the whys, the musts and the goals of homeschooling. it is packed full of hows to but I I have to admit that i have not fully followed that yet, as we are a mixed trying to find a good and workable balance (still working on it) between Classical and Interest-led learning.

I know we are supposed to share 1 book, but I recently got  my hands on this other book that I have heard so much about and knew would be a mine full. i was not disappointed. It is called Educating the WholeHearted Child.

This book is another treasure for the Christian Homeschooling family. It is full of ideas, and advices to help the homeschooling family in their attempt at raising well rounded children both spiritually and academically. It is very exhaustive and that is one of the things I like about it.

I am very thankful for the Homeschool village blog hop as I have already found 2 other books I would most likely like to get my hands on.

I have not read Educating the WholeHearted Child yet. I'm going to add that one to the HUGE list of new books that I want to get after reading all of the great Homeschool Village posts today!

Homeschooling - A Glimpse into How We Do it

2016 was a pretty skimpy blogging year for me. Ask me why, I am not sure I have an answer for you beside life happening and writing inspiration fading. With a new year upon us I will try to get back on the blogging scene and what best topic to start the year with than giving you a glimpse into what homeschooling looks like in our home with now two teenagers. Homeschooling site

I have come across a few great homeschooling sites recently and thought I would share them. Budget Homeschool provides you with tips on how to homeschool on a budget, and has a large array of internet resources. Mathisfun is a great site for math ressources and games. Mathfactcafe is another free math ressource. M ath playground contains a large array of online math games, math problems and puzzles, as well as small tutorials Science with me has great animations, printables and information for teaching science. The best part it is free. Kidskreate is a site with lots of different crafts. They are categorized which make searching really easy Little giraffe is a great site for kindergarden with lots of ideas, projects and ressources. Lesson plan page is a sites with ideas for lesson on all the differents subjects by grades. Kinderart is a great sites for those who really like arts and cratfs.
